It was a steamy evening in the Garden District of New Orleans. The slant light was spilling across the porch where Jenn and Jad were sipping cocktails and sharing tapas. Jenn's gaze locked in on something over Jad's shoulder.
"That place is for sale," she said. "What would we do with that space?"
That question sparked the original vision: a poetry bar serving pints of local beverages, hosting open mic nights, poetry off the shelf and into the room—literally, physically, into a room.
A couple of weeks later, Jenn was in a yoga class when the real idea hit. Jad's first book of poetry was just about to be published, and she had a flash: put his poems on glassware. Not a bookmark. Not a tote bag. A glass—something you reach for every single day, holding your drink of choice and your attention.
